Weymouth on the TV - 12/07/2008
Over the past few months, Weymouth has been awash with stars filming in the area. Hugh Feanley-Whittingstall followed Gordon Ramsay's lead by filming in Bowleaze Cove. Marco Pierre White has also been sampling our local seafood.
In April the cast of Eastenders descended upon the town to film two special episodes of one of the country's most popular television programmes. Filming took place on the harbour, beach and of course our very own Bowleaze Coveway. More recently Weymouth in particular Portland Harbour has welcomed a 250 strong crew filming Richard Curtis' latest blockbuster. Best known for high-profile romantic comedies such as Four Weddings and a Funeral, Notting Hill and Love Actually, Curtis' latest film is called 'The Boat that Rocked' and tells the story of the pirate radio revolution of the sixties. The film stars Oscar winner Philip Seymour Hoffman, Bill Nighy, Kenneth Branagh and Rhys Ifans who have all been staying in the town for the last couple of months. More recently, we at Waterside hosted the cast of the hit CBeebies programme the 'Green Balloon Club'. They came to film our fabulous rock pools that children find so fascinating.
